Crew Incentive Program

The Crew Incentive Program is designed to provide financial assistance for productions that hire

Katharsis Media Interns and Apprentices. In general, Katharsis Media provides between 30-50%

incentive of hourly wages for any Katharsis Media Interns and Apprentices hired on a production.

We also provide on-set support to ensure a smooth transition and help with the production.

How It Works

1. Producers fill out crew incentive form. Click Here >

2. Producers meet with Intern Liaison to ensure availability and assess the needs of the production.

3. Katharsis Media creates an MOU for the production outlining the selected interns, roles, and production details. Then both parties sign the MOU.

4. â€‹Interns / apprentices are accompanied by a Katharsis Media Intern Liaison who acts as a support to the production and ensures a smooth transition.

(Intern Liaison will take on one of the three jobs APOC, POC, or Assistant Producer.)

5. Interns/Apprentices and Intern Liaisons are added to Production Call Sheets and begin work on the production.

(Staring at $191/per day and scaled by the overall production Budget.)

6. Katharsis Media handles intern/ apprentice pay and bills the production as a vendor for the production’s portion of

wages.

7. If possible, a post-mortem meeting is held by the Production team and Katharsis Media leadership to

discuss how it went.

Intern V.S. Apprentice

What's the Difference?

General Internships-

General Internships are short term (4 months) paid on the job training programs. They do not require

related instruction and do not require a rotation phase. Internships are perfect for those who know what

occupation they want to go into and have some experience, but are looking to add to their resumes. It is

also a good choice for a person is still trying to decide if the film industry is a good fit or to want to

explore a few specific occupations within the industry before committing to something bigger. Interns may

be brought on for a specific project or may work on a variety of projects throughout their internship.

Registered Apprenticeship-

Registered Apprenticeship Programs are nationally recognized certificate programs designed for those

who are serious about a career in film and television. The program is divided into four phases, with an

hourly raise accompanying each phase advancement. Apprentices can start in Phase 1 and then move

through the subsequent phases, or they can advance by credit based on previous experience or education. Apprenticeships are full time, paid positions that take between 1-6 years to complete. Katharsis Media is currently the only Registered Apprenticeship Program for film and television trades in the

state of New Mexico.

Which Should You Choose

In general, whether you choose an “intern” or an “apprentice”, it doesn’t really make much difference on your set. The only difference is that General Interns have only been with Katharsis Media for a short amount of time and they may have an upcoming date when their internship ends. This could mean that they do not have as much experience or that we do not know a much about their level of experience as we do about our apprentices. If their internship will end during your production dates, we will let you know before you select them, as it could impact the crew incentive eligibility for the days after their internship ends. This is dependent purely on available funding on our end.
